Potty Train Your 3 Year Old Without Power Struggles

Is your three-year-old insisting on diapers?  Take the struggle out of potty training with this proven technique. Dear Miss Faith, Our son just turned three and we are having major issues with the potty.  He was almost potty trained at 18 months but we didn't "pull the trigger" because a new baby was on the way.  Now it is a struggle to get him to even sit on the potty.   I'm … [Read more...]

Regular Tantrums

Does every little thing seem to spark a tantrum or meltdown? Read on for ideas of what message they may be sending.  It may be different than what you think! Just like the body’s immune system, a relationship’s immune system can get out of balance.  This can be from stress, lack of sleep, over-commitment, lack of attention, or other factors. Our bodies “tell” us when we’re … [Read more...]

Make Your Yard Fantastic

When I haven't been working on my book this past spring and summer, I've been working  with my landscaper friend Tim Francis (http://www.nettle.co/) to transform our yard into a wonderful play space for children and a beautiful and relaxing place for adults.  He did all of the earth-moving and construction, and I did the planting and accessorizing.  It has been a labor of love … [Read more...]

The Joyful Toddlers Book Is Coming!

Great News!  I'm super excited to announce that Joyful Toddlers will be coming in book form!  Many thanks to the team at Hohm Press who were "beyond excited" to pick up my book proposal.  I'm glad to be working with them and I'm sitting down each day to pound out the manuscript over the summer.  Editing will start in the fall, and the book itself should appear autumn … [Read more...]

Dropping Naps

Dear Miss Faith, Recently, It's been a struggle to get my 2.5yo to nap during her usual time. She sometimes won't nap... but she does go to bed a lot earlier if she doesn't nap.  I guess my biggest question is -  Is it right for a 2.5 year old not to nap anymore.  Seems awfully early to me! Dear Mama, Your instincts are right-on. It is a fact that American children are … [Read more...]

Healthy Parent-Toddler Relationships

With babies, the route to a secure bond between parent and baby is relatively clear: it’s the baby’s job to let his or her needs be known, and it’s the adult’s job to respond as quickly, lovingly, and effectively as possible. But what happens when those sweet babies become demanding toddlers? How does the nature of the parent-child bond shift, and how does it stay … [Read more...]
